Pakistan’s Bano Kousar made history by clinching gold in the women’s 48kg contact ju-jitsu category at the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025 in Amman, Jordan. She triumphed over India’s Richa Sharma in a thrilling final, showcasing skill and resilience that made the nation proud.

Her victory, among 800 athletes from 27 countries, was a standout moment for Pakistan and a major boost to its international sports profile.

Pakistan finished the tournament with a total of six medals. Muhammad Yousuf and Umar Yaseen secured silver in the U21 Duo and Show Men categories, following a narrow loss to Thailand in the final after defeating Vietnam. The pair previously won gold in the U18 category in 2024, signaling their steady progress.

Bronze medals came from M. Ali Rashid and M. Yousuf Ali (Duo & Show Men). At the same time, Isra Waseem and Kainat Arif claimed bronze in the women’s Duo & Show category, highlighting strong performances across both genders.

Khalil Ahmed Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Jiu-Jitsu Federation, praised the athletes and coaches, calling the wins a testament to Pakistan’s rising international standards in the sport.
