Monitoring Desk – In order to increase the number of filers, the Federal Government of Pakistan has decided to ban the foreign travel of non-filers.

The decision was taken as the Federal Budget 2024-25 was presented in the National Assembly on Wednesday. However, the non-filers going for Hajj, Umrah or education purposes will be exempted from the ban.

According to details, the travel agencies that fail to implement the new regulations will have to pay a penalty of Rs10 million.

In his speech, the finance minister reiterated the need for digitizing the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and bringing reforms to the institution to improve tax collection.

The government has set an ambitious target of Rs12,970 billion tax revenue for the FBR, 38 per cent more than the current fiscal year.

The Finance Bill further stated that a repeat offence of non-compliance would result in a fine of Rs20 million.
