Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei Killed; Israeli Officials

Israel claims Khamnaei killed in air strike

Sunday, 1 March 2026 | Monitoring Desk

In a dramatic and unverified development following the US-Israel joint strikes on Iran, senior Israeli officials have claimed that Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in the attack. Tehran has vehemently denied the reports, insisting that the Supreme Leader is safe.

Israeli Claims: ‘We Have Seen the Body’

According to Israeli media reports, senior Israeli officials have claimed not only that Khamenei was killed but that they have also seen a photograph of his body. The image has reportedly been shown to US President Donald Trump as well.

Israeli officials allege that the Supreme Leader was in a secure underground bunker with his companions when approximately 30 bombs were dropped on the location. The strike reportedly killed Khamenei along with dozens of his associates, according to the Israeli claims.

Netanyahu: ‘Indications That Khamenei Is No More’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the situation in a video statement, saying that “indications have been received that Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei is no more.”

Netanyahu further stated that operations against Iran will continue as long as necessary and that in the coming days, “thousands of targets of the terrorist regime will be struck.”

British media has also reported, citing Israeli officials, that Khamenei’s body has been found.

Tehran Denies: ‘Supreme Leader is Safe’

While the news has not been officially confirmed by Iranian authorities, Iranian officials have responded by stating that Khamenei is safe and secure.

Iranian state media has not confirmed the reports of the Supreme Leader’s death, and no official confirmation has been forthcoming from Tehran regarding the Israeli claims.

Context of the Strikes

The claims come in the aftermath of joint US-Israel military strikes on Iran, which targeted multiple locations in Tehran and elsewhere. The operation was confirmed by US officials, with President Trump vowing to destroy Iran’s missile industry and prevent it from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Following the strikes, reports emerged that Khamenei had been moved to a secure location, with Iranian officials initially telling Reuters that the Supreme Leader was not in Tehran and had been transferred to safety.

International Reactions

The unverified claims have sent shockwaves through international diplomatic and intelligence circles. If confirmed, the death of the 86-year-old Supreme Leader, who has held power since 1989, would represent a seismic shift in Iran’s political landscape and the broader Middle East.

However, without official confirmation from Iranian sources or independent verification, the reports remain unsubstantiated. The situation continues to develop rapidly as the world awaits official word from Tehran.
