KMS reported that the occupying forces have tightened restrictions in Srinagar, Badgam, Baramulla and other areas to stop people from taking out Muharram processions. Lal Chowk, the valley’s commercial centre, and adjoining areas of Srinagar were completely sealed and blocked by putting up barricades. Large number of troops and police personnel were deployed across the occupied territory to ensure that no Muharram procession is taken out.
However, on the other hand the Kashmiri youth defied all such restrictions and they tried to take out Muharram processions in Srinagar and other areas. The police arrested dozens of mourners from various places, according to KMS.
