SEOUL<\/strong> \u2013 South Korean President Lee Jae-myung<\/strong> has ignited a major diplomatic crisis after comparing Israel’s military actions in Gaza to the Holocaust, drawing sharp condemnation from Israeli officials and criticism from opposition parties at home<\/a><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The controversy began when President Lee shared a video on social media platform X showing Israeli soldiers abusing a Palestinian man\u2014kicking his body and pushing it off a rooftop in the occupied West Bank town of Qabatiya in September 2024<\/a><\/a>. In his post, Lee wrote:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement proved particularly inflammatory as it came just before Yom HaShaoh<\/strong>\u2014Israel’s Holocaust Remembrance Day\u2014when the nation mourns the six million Jews murdered by Nazis during World War II<\/a><\/a>.
