Web Desk — A joint session of the Parliament is being held today at 12pm as government plans to pass several bills while the Opposition is all set to give full resistance to the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The joint sitting has been convened as the government has apparently convinced its political allies \u2014 including the PML-Q and the MQM-P \u2014 to give their support for the bills it eyes to table on the electronic voting machines (EVMs), NAB, and other issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prime Minister Imran Khan belives his government will get all the bills passed in the joint session. On his official Instagram account, the premier shared a video in which he could be seen speaking about the joint session: “A sportsman is always sure about winning right from the moment he puts his foot in the field.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry, speaking after a meeting with coalition partners said the allied parties expressed confidence in the prime minister’s leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>In response, the joint Opposition is determined to resist the government in sitting and stop it from legislating on “black laws”. Opposition leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif chairmed a meeting of joint opposition at the Parliament House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, said the PTI-led government is pressuring parties with smaller representation to participate in the joint session. “The incompetent government is ruling on a fake majority,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>The PDM has decided to challenge the government’s “controversial” bills in the Supreme Court and take out country-wide protests. A committee has been formed to prepare legal grounds to challenge the bills.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
