Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated on Tuesday that certain conspiratorial elements are still attempting to bring former Prime Minister Imran Khan back to power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking to the media in Sialkot, Khawaja Asif alleged that Faiz Hameed, was in charge of the “Project Imran Khan.” He claimed that as Corps Commander Peshawar, Faiz Hameed bolstered Imran Khan’s political standing and that through manipulation under his supervision, the PTI was brought into power. He added that other individuals also worked for the success of this “project.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Khawaja Asif asserted that the PTI founder “played with the country for four years,” and both Faiz Hameed and Imran Khan are responsible for this. He said the public is well aware of how much Imran Khan delivered, claiming that during his tenure, Parliament was turned into a subsidiary of the ISI. He stated that Faiz Hameed’s project has gradually begun to be exposed and that the events of May 9 were orchestrated for “Bani PTI”, with Faiz’s mind and planning behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Defense Minister further alleged that during the PTI’s rule, political opponents were jailed through Faiz Hameed, who played a “very sinister game” with the country. He warned that if the Imran-Faiz alliance had continued, the damage would have been unimaginable, accusing them of hostility towards the state and emphasizing the need to bring them to justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Defence Minister clarified that accountability would also include those hiding within the bureaucracy and other institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He revealed that the plan for the destruction on May 9 was a “joint venture” of Faiz Hameed. On that day, disrespect was shown to the armed forces and martyrs’ monuments, he said, contrasting it with the same military that made the nation’s head swell with pride during Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad. He questioned what the situation would have been if Faiz Hameed and Imran Khan’s plan had succeeded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PTI Moves Toward Political Reconciliation<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He stated that Faiz Hameed has the right to appeal against his sentence, but such a facility was not available to Nawaz Sharif. He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for pulling the country out of bad conditions and acknowledged the military leadership’s support for the civilian government. He expressed a hope that individuals like Faiz Hameed and the founding PTI are eradicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
