Monitoring Desk<\/strong>: Security forces have launched a large-scale clearance operation in Balochistan\u2019s Bolan district after terrorists hijacked the Jaffar Express, taking passengers hostage. At least 16 attackers have been neutralized, and 104 civilians successfully rescued, security sources confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The train, carrying over 400 passengers across nine bogies, was en route from Quetta to Peshawar when it came under attack. The assailants bombed the railway track and opened fire on the locomotive, injuring the driver, before seizing control of the train near a remote, mountainous area bordering Afghanistan and Iran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rescue efforts are ongoing, with security forces carefully navigating the challenging terrain. So far, 58 men, 31 women, and 15 children have been freed. A railway official stated that 57 of the rescued passengers were transported to Quetta early Wednesday, while 23 others remained in Machh. Meanwhile, 17 injured passengers were shifted to a nearby hospital for immediate medical treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security sources revealed that the attackers, in communication with their handlers via satellite phones, had split into smaller groups following the security forces\u2019 intervention. Reports indicate they were using women and children as human shields, making the operation even more complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emergency measures have been implemented across the province. Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed that all relevant institutions have been mobilized to handle the crisis. Additional security contingents and a relief train were dispatched to the site, while emergency protocols were enforced in Sibi and Civil Hospital Quetta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
