Web Desk<\/strong> \u2014 Following the abrupt end of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) three-day protest on Wednesday morning, Senator Faisal Vawda has claimed that the former ruling party is on the brink of being banned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking on Geo News’ Capital Talk, Vawda alleged that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur might evade arrest, but Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI chairman Imran Khan, is likely to face legal action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His remarks coincide with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)\u2019s move to propose a resolution in the Balochistan Assembly, seeking a ban on PTI. This follows clashes between PTI supporters and security forces in Islamabad\u2019s D-Chowk, where police resorted to tear gas to disperse the protesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abrupt End to PTI Protest
<\/strong>The protest, led by Gandapur and Bushra Bibi, was staged against the imprisonment of Imran Khan and other party leaders, alleged election rigging in February, and the contentious 26th Constitutional Amendment. However, as tensions escalated, the PTI leadership, including Bushra Bibi, retreated, delaying the much-anticipated sit-in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senator Vawda criticized PTI leadership for their absence during the protests. Referring to Bushra Bibi\u2019s role, he stated, \u201cA woman said she would march on D-Chowk but ran away instead.\u201d He also blamed her for leading the party to a \u201cdead end\u201d and alleged that PTI leaders admitted internally that her decisions had caused significant setbacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Government’s Response and Previous Allegations
<\/strong>In July, the government announced plans to ban PTI, citing its alleged involvement in the May 9 riots, which included attacks on military installations, and accusations of attempting to sabotage Pakistan\u2019s IMF negotiations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vawda also highlighted the government\u2019s earlier offer for PTI to shift its protest to Islamabad\u2019s Sangjani area. Imran Khan reportedly agreed to this, but Bushra Bibi rejected it, insisting on D-Chowk as the venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allegations of Internal Betrayal
<\/strong>The senator further claimed that PTI\u2019s leadership had prepared for Imran Khan\u2019s continued incarceration. Without naming specific individuals, Vawda alleged that the events of May 9 were orchestrated under the orders of a \u201cvulture\u201d who benefitted from a \u00a3190 million deal allegedly brokered by the former prime minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next Steps for PTI
<\/strong>The government\u2019s push for legal action against PTI continues to gain momentum as calls for banning the party grow louder. Meanwhile, internal divisions and leadership disputes seem to further weaken PTI\u2019s standing amid ongoing political turmoil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
