Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has made a historic move by approving the first-ever \u201cChief Minister Dialysis Programme Card\u201d in Pakistan. In a bid to support kidney disease patients, she announced an increase in the funds allocated for their treatment, with each dialysis patient now receiving up to Rs 1 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

chairing a special meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz revealed plans to establish additional dialysis units across Punjab. The government has allocated Rs 8.5 million for dialysis treatment and Rs 1.5 million for related tests for each patient. In a major step towards improving healthcare, the CM also directed the provision of free tests and medicines for kidney patients and emphasized the continuation of dialysis procedures, regardless of any financial constraints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CM instructed the Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) to enforce strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all dialysis centers and ensure their regular monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expressing strong concern over the recent spread of AIDS in Multan, the CM called for an urgent report within 24 hours. “The spread of AIDS among dialysis patients is not only deeply concerning but also shameful. It is unacceptable for dialysis procedures to be halted due to lack of funds; treatment must continue without interruption,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, it was revealed that patients from Sindh and Balochistan also benefit from Punjab’s free dialysis services and medicines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further discussions centered around the progress of ongoing health programs and projects in the province. The CM reviewed the health department’s performance indicators (KPIs) and received an update on the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital project. She directed the appointment of a head for the hospital and called for continued improvements in healthcare infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also reviewed the progress of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC-2) and the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha, directing that PIC-2 be developed into a state-of-the-art facility with the latest technology, equipment, and medicines for cardiac patients. Maryam Nawaz further emphasized the importance of modern training for specialist doctors and the appointment of master trainers to enhance healthcare delivery across Punjab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
