Web Desk<\/strong>: Former Commissioner Rawalpindi Liaqat Ali Chatha has withdrawn all his allegations related to rigging the general elections 2024 saying he was \u201cextremely ashamed, embarrassed\u201d, and claimed that he did all this in coordination with a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chatha submitted his written statement to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in which he took full responsibility of his actions and surrendered before the authorities for any kind of legal action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chatha, in a dramatic development last Saturday, tendered his resignation, saying he was “guilty conscience” for abetting large-scale electoral rigging in all the constituencies of Rawalpindi division, further raising the political mercury in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The commissioner, in a surprising news conference, took responsibility for the \u201crigging\u201d that he claimed took place in Rawalpindi Division. Chatha claimed to have converted the losers into winners with a 50,000 votes margin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the commissioner\u2019s blasting allegations, the PTI, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), and other political parties \u2014 most of whom had already rejected the election results \u2014 demanded an investigation into the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chata had also accused Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa of facilitating the \u201crigging\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
