Web Desk — Global logistics company DHL on Monday announced to suspend some of its operations partially in Pakistan due to restrictions on outbound remittances by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
DHL Pakistan has informed customers that it will suspend \u2018Import Express Product\u2019 and restrict outbound shipments to a maximum weight of 70kg per shipment for all customers billed in Pakistan from March 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company has explained that the last pick-up date would be March 14 and shipments picked up on or before this date would still be delivered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following fast-dwindling foreign exchange, the federal government and the State Bank of Pakistan have imposed restrictions on outward remittances for foreign companies operating in Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The courier service provider said, “The company covers the cost of DHL\u2019s international aviation, hub, gateway, and last-mile delivery incurred through our global network for the shipments sent\/received by valued customers.” According to the company, this constraint restricts DHL Express to continue providing the full product offering in Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company says it is requesting the Pakistani authorities to allow the pending remittances to resume the full suite of services in the country at the earliest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Zubair Motiwalla, Busine\u00adssmen Group (BMG) chief, said the government should settle the grievances of DHL amicably as exporters need the foreign courier service for sending their samples to foreign buyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chief Coordinator of Pakistan Fashion Apparel Jawed Bilwani said that usually they send textile samples, necessary to secure future orders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bilwani further added that goods like surgical items are exported from Sialkot and some packaging items are also exported via DHL from Lahore. The trading community usually brings in imported items from various countries.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
