Web Desk — A Somalian man Ali Osman, 34, from Phoenix Arizona, was shot dead by a police officer allegedly for throwing rocks at the cop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to media reports, Osman was throwing rocks at a police vehicle on Sunday. The officer, who was leaving the scene of an unrelated incident, got out of the car and, as reports say, tried to stop Osman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brian Bower of the Phoenix Police Department told Fox 10 News, “One rock was thrown, [and] as the individual was preparing to throw the second rock, that’s when the officer-involved shooting occurred.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The officer then reportedly fired multiple shots at Osman. He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Osman’s family told local news that Osman was dealing with mental illness, for which he was being treated. Osman also had no criminal record, family members said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Somali Student Association at Arizona State University condemned the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We condemn any violence towards Black and Brown communities by Phoenix Police Department,” the statement said. “May Allah grant Ali the highest rank of paradise and may He ease the pain in the hearts of his family and loved ones, and bring swift justice for our community.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
