Web Desk — Police admits there were \u201cundeniable\u201d flaws in security for Japan’s former prime minister Shinzo Abe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of police in the area where Japan’s former prime minister was assassinated admitted major security lapse while pledging an investigation into the assasination of the country’s most seasoned and trustworthy politician.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan\u2019s best-known politician Shinjzo Abe was on the campaign trail in the western region of Nara when a gunman opened fire at close range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI believe it is undeniable that there were problems with the guarding and safety measures for former prime minister Abe,\u201d Tomoaki Onizuka, head of the Nara prefectural police, told reporters on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe urgent matter is for us to conduct a thorough investigation to clarify what happened,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security at local campaign events in Japan can be relatively relaxed, in a country with little violent crime and strict gun laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
