‘King Richard,’ according to producer Williams, had the perfect ending with Venus on the tennis court. However, there is definitely room for a Williams family cinematic universe, with both sisters’ stories told in spin-off films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cVenus moves in her direction and I go in mine,” Williams said. \u201cIt\u2019s two completely different stories.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She continued, \u201cI had a rough journey. I didn\u2019t do well and then I did. It\u2019s a lot of drama. It\u2019s a telenovela. I don\u2019t think I recognize my accomplishments enough. I\u2019m one of those people that\u2019s like, \u2018If it\u2019s done, it\u2019s done, I\u2019ve moved on.\u2019 Because if you think about what you\u2019ve done too much, you may stop doing it. And I never want to stop. I\u2019m still trying to reach my goals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, the film was nominated for Best Picture, Film Editing, Best Original Screenplay, Best Song, and Best Supporting Actress for Aunjanue Ellis, who played matriarch Oracene Williams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“King Richard” director Reinaldo Marcus Green previously told IndieWire that the film is more of a family story than a sports movie.
