Another company involved is Digital World Acquisition Corp. (DWAC), a publicly-traded SPAC founded by Miami banker Patrick Orlando. Both entities have entered into a merger agreement to make TMTG public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Who can become a member of Truth Social?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Is Truth Social for you? Probably not. There was no intention of using this platform as a replacement for mainstream services like Twitter or Facebook. It is a social media platform designed to combat the perceived “woke culture” and less about content moderation or accessibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We won’t silence our fellow citizens for the simple reason that they might be wrong, or worse, because we think American citizens are incapable of handling the truth,” Trump said. The site’s terms of service mention that your account can be suspended if you make fun of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How does Truth Social relate to Twitter?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Truth Social bears more than a passing resemblance to Twitter, but not just because Twitter was Trump’s preferred platform. Truth Social was created using an open-source license from Mastodon, which initially served as an alternative to Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reuters reports that a beta test for the iOS app was supposed to start in November 2021, but invites only went out to about 500 people this month. There is now an iOS app available from the App Store; an Android app is “coming soon,” according to the Truth Social website. You’ll be asked to provide an email address and a phone number when you sign up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
