US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo refuses to sign the peace deal between America and the Afghan Taliban.
According to Time Magazine, Pompeo said in an interview that US accomplished a tough mission of eradicating Al Qaeda that used Afghan soil as safe heaven. He said after 9/11 attacks, US had clarity of mind that Al Qaeda that carried those attacks had to be finished.
Pompeo said after US presence in Afghanistan for two decades, the chances of attacks at US from the Afghan soil are equal to none.
On the other hand US special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Zalmay Khalilzad says any deal between Afghan Taliban and United States is not final unless President Trump signs it. It is however unclear as to why Pompeo refused to sign the peace deal.
